TPS2456 Protection / Blocking Controller

The Texas Instruments TPS2456 dual 12 V channel protection (hotswap) and blocking (ORing) controller provides inrush control, current limiting, overload protection, and reverse current blocking. The current sense topology of the TI TPS2456 dual 12 V protection / blocking controller provides accurate current limits and independent setting of current limit and fast trip thresholds. The ORing control uses an external MOSFET to block reverse current when an input is shorted. Systems with closely matched supply voltages and feed networks can supply current from both supplies simultaneously. The MONx output provides an accurate analog indication of load current. The protection circuits of the TI TPS2456 may be used without blocking. The blocking may be used without protection. The TPS2456 protection and blocking controller is optimized for use in a variety of applications, including ATCA carrier boards, AdvancedMC™ slots, and more.

LM5060 High-Side Protection Controllers

Texas Instruments LM5060 High-Side Protection Controllers with Low Quiescent Current offers intelligent control of a high-side N-channel MOSFET during normal on/off transitions and fault conditions. The constant rise time of the output voltage results from the inrush current control. Both an Input UVLO (with hysteresis) and a programmable input OVP are provided, with an enable input offering a remote on or off control. The initial start-up V_GS fault detection delay time, the transition V_DS fault detection delay time, and the continuous over-current V_DS fault detection delay time is programmed from a single capacitor. The MOSFET is latched off until either the enable input, or the UVLO input is toggled low and then high when a detected fault condition persists longer than the allowed fault delay time.
